week 3
I guess now’s as good a time as any to talk about the learning wall! I’m curious as to how everyone’s finding the learning wall? <---easy response question;) (your welcome) I’m finding it to be a very effective tool for my grade 7 unit. The unit we are working on is an exploration of the watercolour medium. It is a fairly traditional art unit in terms of skill development and image making, however the students seem to really be enjoying it. Of course there are the select few that could care less about art; with that being said, the majority of the students seem to be pretty excited about it

I am glad that the learning wall served as a positive way to teach rotary visual arts classes. Let me know how the tests go regarding the head spinning.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the learning wall worked out for you! I wonder if it is more effective for a rotary class vs. core class.
ReplyDeleteHello Mike,
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty cool learning wall. I really liked how you broke down the water colouring techniques into separate labels. Often in art, you use multiple techniques without even knowing it, because you just follow what's been demonstrated previously by a teacher/instructor. Glad most students enjoyed the unit!
I did a learning wall for two grade 8 classes for Poetry (and I combined a little bit of art component as well). I definitely found it to be a useful tool, especially to refer back to (to remind students what we covered previously/ or to direct students what they missed when they were absent). But I did find to create it required a lot of time, and I was not able to get students to help me as much as I would have hoped.
As well I read your post above this one. I'm glad your CAT scans turned out to be normal. Must have been a few exhausting weeks I'm sure. Good luck on your internship.
